It’s Bananas!

Style from A to Zoe

When I was a fashion marketing teacher, I was always challenged to find interesting, creative ways to keep my wonderful fashion students engaged. Teenagers are a tough audience. I often say, if you can speak to a group of teenagers successfully, you can speak to ANYBODY! One would think the mere fact that they were in a fashion class in HIGH SCHOOL was enough to keep them happy, but that was not the case! So as part of my plan, I introduced the Rachel Zoe Project to my advanced students to give them the stylist perspective of the industry. They loved it and so did I (still do)!! As they completed brief written assignments along with each episode, I also introduced her book, Style from A to Zoe.

In this book Rachel talks about “the art of fashion, beauty, and everything glamour”.  She offers practical ways to bring a little glamour into your world, despite the fact that most of us don’t lead very glamorous lives.  I mean, there’s nothing glamorous about the crushed Cheerios in my backseat, the wet clothes I change during the potty training phase, or the ever present piles of laundry. But Rachel offers great suggestions for bringing some fabulosity into your life, improving your style and wardrobe in simple ways, and even how to throw a great party! While life and day-to-day responsibilities can seem a bit unglamorous, we all have a little glamour girl inside screaming to come out!

So the next time you’re in the book store or maybe even the library, sneak away from the kiddie section and look for Style from A to Zoe. In the words of Rachel, “it’s bananas”!

  1. I enjoy watching The Rachel Zoe project. I plan on picking up her book as well. I think we all have our own little fashion projects within ourselves.
