Today’s temps are at least 10 degrees cooler. The weather may be playing havoc with your wardrobe, but it’s not going to affect your makeup. Fall makeup colors are glorious. Go ahead and embrace them.
Fall Makeup Trends for 2009
- Matte Red Lipstick
- Matte Foundation (So makeup hues have a light canvas to stick to, we want to see your blush this season.)
- Deep Purple Lipstick Hues, Purple Blush
- Fuchsia Lips
- Glitter eyeshadow on the Lids
- Blue Eyeshadow (Always choose shades that work best for your skintone.)
- Red Eyeshadow
- Smoldering Smokey Black Eyes
- Pink Shimmery, Disco 80’s Makeup
- Matted nude lips (Put powder on your lips for a sexy nude look.)
Always remember to play up ONE feature at a time, being either your eyes, blush, or lips.
Makeup trends tend to change subtly from season-to-season. Each year, the color schemes resemble the palette from the year before, usually with only a slightly noticeable twist. For Fall 2009, makeup trends seem to be inspired by a wide variety of concepts, most notably a return to the natural look with foundation, with emphasis on eyes.
The hottest ticket this season is gray eye shadow and it really does look fab on all ladies. Make sure the gray hue has a hint of purple in it so it’s more like a quartz color. This shade is considered the new neutral, meaning you can wear it with anything! Wear it alone smoothed over the lid and softly under the lash line or pair it with black liner for a sexier, smokier look.
Whether it’s smoky eyes, lush lips, precious metals or deep purple, this fall there are plenty of fashion-forward makeup choices!

Basically, makeup trends are made for the runway, not the driveway. When it comes to your face, only embrace makeup trends that work for you. Besides, the most important factor is spending time with your kids. It’s way more important and more enjoyable!

Hey Stevie,
Thanks so much for your tips. My makeup looked so good this past weekend! Tell me, does matte mean lip gloss is out? Also, at 57 is blue eyeshadow appropriate? Love this blog!
Sharon
Hey Sharon,
You can still wear lip gloss, it is just saying for that particular color(red) it should be matte. Not all colors should be matte, it is all according to personal preference.
I for one do not like matte lipstick on myself, it doesn’t matter what color it is! =)
Matte foundation means that it is dull and flat, without a shine.
Blue eyeshadow can be worn at age 57, but make it look age appropriate meaning soft and subtle. Ex. maybe try a blue liner and maybe smudge it a little on the lower lid(not so much all over the eye).
Hope this helps and you should have taken a picture so we could’ve seen how good you looked! +)
Thanx for the love!!!!!
