Smarter Shopping!

In our daily lives we spend so much time talking about foolishness! Let’s talk about something good today!!

The popularity of the “Go Green” phenomena has definitely had an impact on the fashion and beauty industries. Designers are creating more and more chic “eco-friendly” fashions using organic or recycled fabrics, and organic beauty products are popping up everywhere.  Green3, an apparel company that only uses recycled or organic cotton in their products, has recently created a cool new item that we LOVE for your fall/winter wardrobe.  The T-Shirt scarf is made from unused, reclaimed 100% cotton t-shirt scraps collected from apparel factories. The T Shirt Scarf Each scarf is one-of-a-kind (made exclusively for your fabYOUlous self). In order to construct these scarves, Green3 partnered with a non-profit organization in Green Bay, Wisconsin called Aspiro. Aspiro specializes in teaching job skills to cognitively disabled adults. Each scarf is made by the adults in the program and provides them with an opportunity for independent living. I think this is a wonderful thing! The T-Shirt scarf is sold exclusively at uncommongoods.com.

I encourage you in your “Happy Shopping” to support these kinds of companies who strive to love the earth and preserve it for our children and grandchildren! Small contributions can make a BIG difference!!!

Today’s temps are at least 10 degrees cooler.  The weather may be playing havoc with your wardrobe, but it’s not going to affect your makeup. Fall makeup colors are glorious. Go ahead and embrace them.

Fall Makeup Trends for 2009golden-makeup

  • Matte Red Lipstick
  • Matte Foundation (So makeup hues have a light canvas to stick to, we want to see your blush this season.)
  • Deep Purple Lipstick Hues, Purple Blush
  • Fuchsia Lips
  • Glitter eyeshadow on the Lids
  • Blue Eyeshadow (Always choose shades that work best for your skintone.)
  • Red Eyeshadow
  • Smoldering Smokey Black Eyes
  • Pink Shimmery, Disco 80’s Makeup
  • Matted nude lips (Put powder on your lips for a sexy nude look.)

Always remember to play up ONE feature at a time, being either your eyes, blush, or lips.

Makeup trends tend to change subtly from season-to-season. Each year, the color schemes resemble the palette from the year before, usually with only a slightly noticeable twist. For Fall 2009, makeup trends seem to be inspired by a wide variety of concepts, most notably a return to the natural look with foundation, with emphasis on eyes.

The hottest ticket this season is gray eye shadow and it really does look fab on all ladies. Make sure the gray hue has a hint of purple in it so it’s more like a quartz color. This shade is considered the new neutral, meaning you can wear it with anything! Wear it alone smoothed over the lid and softly under the lash line or pair it with black liner for a sexier, smokier look.

Whether it’s smoky eyes, lush lips, precious metals or deep purple, this fall there are plenty of fashion-forward makeup choices!

Basically, makeup trends are made for the runway, not the driveway. When it comes to your face, only embrace makeup trends that work for you. Besides, the most important factor is spending time with your kids. It’s way more important and more enjoyable!
