A Vending Machine…for SHOES!

A good vending machine can really come in handy when you need a quick snack or cold beverage. But what about a vending machine that sells shoes?!? Yes…I said shoes!!! Ladies we all know there are times when we choose to sacrifice comfort for CUTE! Sometimes our most FABULOUS shoes are the most uncomfortable ones. Well, companies like Rollasole and Afterheels have come up with a great remedy for that…..shoe vending machines!!! Currently the two European companies offer these vending machines in nightclubs. So after a long night of dancing in their sexy, strappy heels, the ladies can buy a pair of comfy flats and give their feet some relief! We ABSOLUTELY love this! These vending machines would be perfect for the unfortunate broken heel, the city girl who didn’t realize “just a couple of blocks” would turn into miles, or the woman who needs to change shoes for whatever reason. I can just envision shoe vending machines popping up all over the place. :-) The colors are cute, the shoes can fit in your tiny clutch, and for the environmentally-friendly girl, Afterheels are made with biodegradable materials. Rollasoles can be found at Target.com for just $9.99! As far as the vending machines…I’ll keep you posted!

Happy Shopping!

Simply Soles…Simply Fabulous!

Kassie Rempel, Owner of Simply Soles

A couple of weekends ago I attended the Grand Opening of Simply Soles at the National Harbor. For those of you who don’t live in the DC area, Simply Soles is a cool, super chic boutique that sells shoes, accessories, jewelry, and handbags. After experiencing great success at the Georgetown location, the Simply Soles team decided to spread their wings and landed at the National Harbor. The morning of the opening I debated not going. It was a gorgeous, perfect sunny day but I really didn’t want to go by myself. In the end I decided to go and I’m so glad I did! The store is beautiful…loved it! You MUST go visit AND buy something (they sell kids merchandise too)! But I was most impressed with owner, Kassie Rempel. Can you say SUPER MOM?!? She’s a wife, mother of two young children, CPA, fashion designer (her shoe line, Lillybee, is sold in her store) and entrepreneur doing big things! I’m so impressed! She’s a true testament that being a mom does not mean sacrificing your own goals and dreams. We can accomplish whatever our hearts desire with hard work and perseverance. Kassie has turned her love of shoes into a successful enterprise. Let’s follow her lead. Mommies, we CAN accomplish GREAT things! So…let’s do it! NO EXCUSES. :-)

To shop and learn more about Kassie, visit simplysoles.com, or one of the stores in Georgetown or the National Harbor.

Fall Trend: Fur Vest

If you’ve been shopping recently, I’m sure you’ve seen lots of fur vests on the racks. Surprisingly, I even saw one at Claire’s Boutique the other day. I must admit at first I was a bit skeptical, but now I think this fall trend has grown on me! I haven’t purchased one yet but I’m searching for the right one for me. If you choose to do the same, I encourage you to purchase a faux fur vest. :-) But please use caution….a faux fur vest worn incorrectly can look super corny! LOL!!! Happy Shopping chicas!!!

Some Rules are Made to be Broken!

Well Labor Day has come and gone. That means the last day for the pool! And for our traditional fashionistas that also means saying goodbye to wearing white. But for our more adventurous ladies who prefer to set their own fashion rules, wearing white after Labor Day is the norm! For those who are apprehensive about breaking the rule, the KEY is to OWN IT with confidence! Don’t walk around wondering if people are judging you because you’re wearing white. BE BOLD and OWN IT!!! If you DARE to break the rules here are some cool ways to do it!

Fall Fashion Trend: Animal Print!!!

Hey ladies! If you haven’t started getting your wardrobe ready for fall, now is the time! While we dread saying goodbye to warm, sunny, summer days, we welcome the opportunity to change things up as far as clothing is concerned. We are loving the trends we’ll be seeing this fall, and one of those trends is Animal Print. :-)

While we recognize that animal print can be scary for some, especially when OVER done, we love how this fall trend is a simple way to add POP to an outfit! If you are not a fan of animal print but are willing to give it a try, we encourage you to introduce small accessories into your wardrobe and see where that takes you. Below we’ve selected a few items for the animal print “novice”, as well as the animal print lover (like myself – - ->unhealthy obsession). But please, please, pleeeeaaase DON’T OVER DO IT! In most cases, ONE animal print item is all you need in an outfit….two at the most! Happy Shopping!!!

Looking Good for Less

During this economy everyone is looking for ways to look good on a budget. Many women/moms don’t realize that they have the key ingredients to look radiant right in the comfort of their own home. Here are a few tips to keep you looking good for less!!!

Eyes Makeup Tips For free

Having good eyebrows is just half of the job. Shape your eyebrows with a little bit saliva (spit for the common people) and a well-trained finger. The more experienced “fingershaper” will notice that this solution also have a nice side-effect, it also epilates your eyebrows (of course it won’t work if you have Bert and Ernie eyebrows).

Create a “Smokey eyes” look by drawing a line around your eyes with a carbon pencil and blend it out carefully with a brush. Vague out the line with the brush halfway to the moving eyelid (don’t vague out till the eyebrow bone). At the down side of your eye, the color in the outside corner of your eye darker and becomes lighter in the inside corner of your eye.

Cheeks Makeup Tips For free

Your grandmother might have done it when you were a little kid: pinching your cheeks to give it some color. Professional makeup artist also use this method. Jogging or even some hot sex will also give you a healthy gloss on your cheeks.

Make a good blush by mixing some lipstick with your foundation. It will give a contrast with some powder blushes not a grey haze, but a healthy blush.

Lips Makeup Tips Free

A toothbrush is not only functional for brushing your teeth or brushing your eyebrows, you can even use it to gently scrub your lips. It will even give you a “Just been kissed” look.

If you are going to buy something, make sure you buy Vaseline. It’s perfect to style your eyebrows with it. You can put it on your cheekbones, use it as hand and feet creme and of course as lip gloss.

Skin Makeup Tips for free

Caffeine is a very important ingredient in a lot of anti-cellulitis cremes. But you can also use coffee grinds while you are in the shower. Just give yourself a good massage with the coffee grinds.

More Makeup Tips and Advice

Organize a makeup trade day and invite some friends over. Don’t forget to ask them to bring along their makeup. Everyone has stuff that at the moment they bought it, they were feeling like they can’t live without it, but changed their minds after purchasing it. So trade with your friends. Try to trade unused makeup.

Refrigerators and kitchen cabinets are a very good source for most of the free stuff for your hair. Beer (use it as shampoo), Olive oil (use it as a hair mask) and lemon juice (bleach your hair with it) are excellent stuff to put in your hair.

Must haves for Summer Fab Skin

Summer is about baring skin and showing off the beautiful (fake) summer tan you have. But in order to look good baring that skin, you need to take some time to ready your skin and reverse the signs of neglect you showed your skin during fall, winter and spring. We all want beautiful summer skin, right? To do that, you’re going to need a few skin care products and accessories to get your skin in tip-top condition.

Don’t worry, it’s as easy as can be to have glowing summer skin. I am  going to share  products and secrets to help transform your skin.

1. Mineral Facial Sunscreens

Mineral Facial Sunscreens

Mineral sunscreens typically come in a pre-filled container with an attached brush for you to simple brush the sunscreen on all over your face. You not only get sun coverage, you get to cover-up the shiny face you might have.

You can find these in tinted colors or even clear, depending on what you’re looking for.

2. Bronzer

Laura Geller Bronze - N - Brighten

It’s time to pack away the blush and pick out a good bronzer. And what makes a good bronzer? One that doesn’t leave your skin looking orange. Orange is not the color we’re going for.

You’ll look better and feel better with a little summer glow, especially if your skin doesn’t get much color in the summer months. If you can’t make it, fake it!

3. New Polish

Zoya: Moxie Vibrant Red Plum Cream

While natural fingernails with clear polish are always in, summer is the time to go with a bold, fun color on your toes. Go with the reds, pinks and corals.

And nail polish is something that is such a nice treat because they are so inexpensive and last the entire summer.

Trust us, no one looks good in sandals if they don’t take time to take care of their feet. Polish looks nice.

4. Body Scrub

Bliss: Blood Orange + White Pepper Sugar Body Scrub

A good body scrub is vital to smooth summer skin. Think about all of the dead skin cells that accumulated on your body over the winter and spring. They need to be scrubbed off so your healthy new skin can shine.

Scrubs are especially important if you self tan. The week before applying self tanner, you should scrub a few times to ensure your skin is even and ready to soak in the tanner.

5. Lip Balm with SPF

Mission Skin Care: Pomegranate Lip Balmer SPF15

Your lips are even more sensitive to the sun than your skin, but how many of us think about protecting them with sunscreen? By picking out a lipbalm with SPF protection, your lips will skip the painful peeling that can come from sunburn.

And what used to be almost impossible to find is now everywhere! Try to find one with at least SPF15.

6. Sun Screen You Love

Coola: Mango Sport SPF45

What’s a list of summer skin must-haves without the sunscreen. Let’s face it, if you don’t love your sunscreen, you’re not going to want to use it. But we know you know you have to use sunscreen, so let’s find one you love so that you have no excuses.
